Waiting for a Transplant

The waiting period can last anywhere from several days to several months. If you are able to wait at home and are on an intravenous medication, you will be given a beeper so we can reach you when a donor heart becomes available.

It is important to arrange transportation to the hospital for the transplant during the time you are listed. You will usually have two to three hours to get to the hospital. If you have a question about your situation, please ask the transplant coordinator.
