Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit

The Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit at Pennsylvania Hospital — an 18-bed unit — is an inpatient facility designed to meet the special physical and cognitive rehabilitative needs of individuals who have experienced a disabling injury, illness, or surgery. Our goal is to return patients to a functional level that enables them to return home as quickly as possible. Advanced treatment programs are offered for medical conditions including, but not limited to:

  • stroke
  • hip fractures
  • arthritis
  • amputation
  • neurologic disorders
  • general orthopaedics

Our rehabilitation program helps patients with:

  • physical impairment that limits functional ability
  • a need for assistance in performing daily living functions
  • medical complications which cause a significant decline in physical function
  • a disability of recent onset or recent progression
