Specialized staff work one-on-one with you and your family or caregiver to help you reach optimal health and ability. Our rehabilitation team includes:

  • Physiatry (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physicians)
  • Rehabilitation Nursing
  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Orthotic and prosthetic services
  • Recreational therapy
  • Neuropsychology
  • Speech/language therapy
  • Vocational rehabilitation

Individualized Attention
Each patient is individually evaluated according to his or her specific needs. Our comprehensive services address every aspect of rehabilitation:

  • Health restoration and management of health problems

  • Self-care and activities of daily living
  • Community integration
  • Social and leisure activities
  • Cognitive and psychological adjustment
  • Communication and dysphagia (swallowing)
  • Education for patients and caregivers

Group Activities
We offer group activities to help you and your family or caregiver adjust upon returning home and to the community. These include:

  • Adaptive cooking instruction
  • Patient and family education, discussing such topics as pain management, nutrition, safety, health promotion, community resources and adjustment after hospital discharge
  • Pet therapy
  • Community activities

The unique advantage of our university-based rehabilitation unit is our access to the specialized skills of the foremost leaders in clinical practice and research. Medical and surgical specialists participate in patient care when necessary.
