General Rehabilitation Medicine
The General Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic
offers programs to treat patients with a wide
range of disabilities - including musculoskeletal
disorders - and those recovering from surgery
and neurological trauma.
The Spine Center
The Spine Center offers comprehensive evaluation
and treatment for patients with disorders related
to the back and neck. The Spine Center brings
together at a single site a multidisciplinary
team of professionals, including physiatrists,
orthopaedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, occupational
therapists and physical therapists, to deal
with the diagnostic and treatment needs of
patients with neck and/or back pain. Treatments
include discograms, facet joint injections,
intradiscal eletrothermy annuloplasty and selective
nerve root blocks.
Director
Curtis W. Slipman, MD
Electrodiagnostic Tests
The Electrodiagnostic Laboratory applies electromyography
to identify peripheral nerve or muscle abnormalities,
anterior horn cell diseases, root lesions,
plexopathies, peripheral neuropathy, entrapment
syndrome, neuromuscular junction abnormalities,
and myopathies. The tests are used for the
diagnosis of pain, weakness, or numbness as
a result of disease or trauma to the nerves
or muscle. The quantitative electromyography-based
pain management technique known as intramuscular
stimulation technique is also available for
management of acute and chronic neuropathic
pain.
Neurorehabilitation Outpatient Program
The Neurorehabilitation Program is designed
to provide comprehensive evaluations and/or
treatment services to people with impaired
function caused by neurological disorders such
as stroke, neurosurgical procedures, and traumatic
brain injury. Patients with a variety of neurological
disorders - such as multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic
lateral sclerosis and Guillain-Barre syndrome
- are also treated. The program has two major
components: a Comprehensive Neurorehabilitation
Service and a Neurorehabilitation Functional
Recovery Program.
Amputee Rehabilitation
Appropriate therapeutic interventions are formulated,
including therapies, exercise programs and
wound care. Ongoing care addresses function
of patient prosthetic fit and alignment and
the integrity of the intact extremity. Prescribes
and oversees the fitting of prosthetic devices,
in cooperation with the Orthotics and Prosthetics
Laboratory and Physical Therapy.

with diverse forms of chronic pain that have
not responded to conventional therapy.

originate primarily through the Social Security
Administration. The outpatient facility is
fully staffed and equipped for this type of
evaluation.
Diabetic Ulcers

such as those often experienced by diabetics.
A multidiscplinary outpatient team follows
the treatment process. Our team consists of
a physiatrist, dermatologist, physical therapist,
pedorthist, and a home care network. State-of-the-art
wound care addresses the following components:
biomechanical, orthotic, conventional (dressings),
and adjunctive (total contact casting, hydrotherapy,
electotherapy, growth factors). We treat foot
ulceration, and prevent future ulceration in
those at risk.
