Neuroradiology Division

Interventional Neuroradiology is a specialty dedicated to the treatment of disorders of the blood vessels of the neck and brain from inside the blood vessels.

Patients who may have required surgery for aneurysms, vascular malformations and tumors of the brain, spine, head and neck may be considered for treatment using a safe and effective endovascular approach to reach the lesion using devices within the blood vessels. Common endovascular therapies include angioplasty or opening a narrowed artery with a balloon. Others include treating head aneurysms which is a balloon-like weakness in the wall of an artery.

Interventional Neuroradiology offers state-of-the-art spine procedures including:

  • vertebroplasty – designed to alleviate the pain from spine fractures resulting from osteoporosis.
  • kyphoplasty – designed to fix spinal deformities without surgery

Diagnostic Neuroradiology is another growing specialty due to advances in computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The Division provides state-of-the-art imaging including:

  • MR spectroscopy – for the study of brain tumors and epilepsy.
  • MR and CT perfusion imaging – for the study of stroke and brain tumors.
  • MR and CT angiography – for the noninvasive study of the arteries that supply the brain.

We also provide high level of expertise in imaging head and neck cancer.

The Division is staffed by neuroradiologists with expertise in head and neck, spine, brain and neurovascular and advanced MR imaging. Our state-of-the art- imaging equipment includes 1.5 Tesla MR scanners, helical multi detector CT scanners, and suites dedicated to spinal procedures and diagnostic and interventional neuroangiography.
