About the Abramson Cancer Center
The Abramson
Cancer Center is already known
for individual, compassionate care and support,
as well as leading-edge therapies in cancer care.
The Perelman Center, its new home, ushers in
a new era for the cancer center and for cancer
care in the Greater Philadelphia region.
Designated a Comprehensive Cancer Center
by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for more
than 30 years, the cancer center:
- Established the first breast and ovarian
cancer risk evaluation program in the nation
- Is one of only 35 approved training programs
in the United States for the gynecologic oncology
specialty
- Performs the most stem cell and bone marrow
transplants in the region, with a much higher
than average survival rate
Because cancer is not a single disease – it
is a hundred different diseases – there
is no “average” cancer patient. The
Abramson Cancer Center brings the latest research
discoveries in designing therapies that target
each patient's particular cancer, while
providing the emotional, nutritional and practical
resources that each individual patient and family
needs.
