Ceremonial Beam
After completing the installation of the final
piece of steel, the construction team and Penn
community recently celebrated the "topping out"
of the Perelman Center for Advanced
Medicine. In this historic tradition, the
final beam is typically painted white, signed
by those involved, and raised into place with
an evergreen tree and American flag attached.
