Sarcoma Program

The Sarcoma program combines the expertise of several different doctors, nurses and other health care professionals. This program is led by Richard Lackman, MD, orthopaedic oncologist, and Arthur Staddon, MD, medical oncologist.

This interdisciplinary team approach means that experts in treatment, nutrition, support and other areas will assist you in developing a total body approach to your cancer treatment. Our patient-centered approach ensures that you and your family will get the medical care and emotional support that you need.

Further, our clinical trials program offers innovative approaches to treating these cancers with a focus on limb preservation and quality of life. And, our research program brings the latest technical advances directly to you, our patients.

Our program includes doctors from all the fields necessary to properly treat and diagnose bone or soft tissue sarcomas, including specialists in:

  • orthopaedic oncology
  • surgical oncology
  • medical oncology
  • radiation oncology
  • diagnostic radiology
  • pathology

An experienced nurse practitioner who works exclusively with sarcoma patients is an important part of the team. Nurses, social workers, nutritionists, physical therapists and prosthetists are also an integral part of your care.

Our faculty and staff will take the time to explain your condition and treatment options in understandable terms and will follow you throughout the course of your treatment.
