Honors, Awards and Publications
Helen Grosky, MSS, LSW, oncology social worker, received the 2004 Emil and Lynn Hubschman Award. The annual award recognizes individuals who exemplify the Pennsylvania Hospital tradition of combining compassion and caring with outstanding performance of their responsibilities.
Debra DeMille, MS, RD, LDN, nutritionist, received the American Cancer Society Pennsylvania Southeast Region's Volunteer Achievement Award for her work as a facilitator for the I Can Cope program's “Nutrition Well Being” module. She was cited for her “drive and determination for patients to benefit from the program by understanding the information better.”
Patricia Ford, MD, Hematology/Oncology, and David H. Henry, MD, Hematology/Oncology, article “Autologous Stem-Cell Transplantation Can Be Performed Safely Without the Use of Blood-Product Support” appeared in Journal of Clinical Oncology, Vol. 22, No. 20.
Marylou Osterman, Coordinator, Joan Karnell Cancer Center, was named December's Employee of the Month at Pennsylvania Hospital. As coordinator, Marylou is involved in nearly every aspect of the daily running of the Cancer Center. Recently, she was key to the success of the Together We Can 2004 fundraiser. She is also coordinating the second “Together We Can Make a Difference” holiday service project for families in need.
