Penn Foot and Ankle Center

The Penn Foot and Ankle Center of the Penn Orthopaedic Institute provides comprehensive diagnostic, surgical and rehabilitative services for adult foot and ankle conditions, from the common to the most complex.

The Penn Foot and Ankle Center team works closely with other orthopaedic services within the Penn Orthopaedic Institute and employs a multidisciplinary approach that involves other specialists, including:

  • Radiologists
  • Rheumatologists
  • Vascular medicine specialists

When non-surgical treatment options for foot and ankle conditions do not provide adequate relief or are not appropriate, the team offers the most sophisticated surgical techniques currently available for the foot and ankle.

Expert services at the Penn Foot and Ankle Center are appropriate for patients who:

  • Seek second opinions regarding diagnosis or treatment plan
  • Want to review treatment options
  • Face multiple medical problems and are at high risk for surgical or medical treatment
  • Require surgery
  • Need a second surgery to correct the results of a previous operation

The Penn Foot and Ankle Center team treats:

  • Nail conditions
  • Heel pain
  • Arthritis
  • Trauma
  • Sports injuries
  • Diabetic and geriatric foot problems

Along with the routine procedures, the Penn Foot and Ankle Center also provides these state-of-the-art surgical techniques:

  • Cartilage-sparing surgical ankle arthroscopy of osteochondral talar dome lesions with retrograde drilling and bone grafting.
  • Total ankle replacement (currently the only center in the Delaware Valley performing this unique technique).
