Antepartum Unit

Pennsylvania Hospital's eight-bed Antepartum Unit provides specialized care for women experiencing complications of pregnancy, such as premature labor, gestational diabetes and pregnancy-induced hypertension. Each bed in the Antepartum Unit is equipped with a fetal monitor that can measure both the baby's heart rate and the mother's contractions.

Nurses are specially trained to care for women experiencing high-risk pregnancies. In addition, portable monitors are available so that appropriate patients can be monitored at home and still receive care from their physicians at the hospital.
