Tips for Trimming the Fat

  • Eat 2 meatless meals a day and red meat only once a week.
  • Eat fish at least once a week.
  • Margarine or butter? The answer is neither. Butter-like sprays and reduced-calorie soft margarines are the best choices because they have less saturated fat.
  • Follow the food guide pyramid and read food labels.
  • Instead of meat, find low- saturated fat sources of protein like beans, soy protein and tofu.
