The Women's Resource Center at Pennsylvania Hospital

The Women's Resource Center at Pennsylvania Hospital offers free health assessments to women of all ages to screen for risk factors that contribute to heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, osteoporosis, and colon cancer.

Free Services and Screenings
The Women's Resource Center provides the following services at no charge:

  • A health assessment performed by experienced, professional staff.
  • Health and wellness information and educational materials.
  • Access to health programs and services designed for women of all ages.
  • Customization of care and physician referrals.
  • Expedited appointments with the best primary care and specialty physicians within the University of Pennsylvania
    Health System.
  • Online subscription to Penn's Women's Health E-Newsletter.

Free health screenings include:

  • Blood pressure
  • Body mass index
  • Cholesterol/lipids
  • Glucose testing for diabetes
  • Risk assessment for osteoporosis
  • Risk assessment for colon cancer

Solutions for Women at Pennsylvania Hospital

Women receiving health services within Philadelphia will now have an affordable, conveniently located store to purchase many of the distinct health supplies or support items they need. Solutions for Women at Pennsylvania Hospital is a one-stop-shop for women to obtain life-enhancing health care items.

Solutions for Women at Pennsylvania Hospital opens this winter and will also be the new location for the current Lactation Center at Pennsylvania Hospital. This unique store will offer quality breastfeeding products including breast pumps for rent or purchase, maternity and nursing bras, and a new and expanded line of breastfeeding support products.

By early 2007, Solutions for Women will also offer therapeutic products for women undergoing cancer treatment such as radiation or chemotherapy. Cancer-related items will include
wigs, hats, scarves, mastectomy bras, and skin-care and make-up products. In addition, Solutions for Women will carry many other women's health care and specialty gift items.

Did you know?
Many Penn Ob/Gyn Care practices offer midwifery services for pregnant women. Certified nurse-midwives provide prenatal care, deliver babies and offer regular gynecologic care for healthy women with uncomplicated pregnancies. A certified nurse-midwife is an experienced registered nurse who has completed an accredited education program in nurse-midwifery and has passed a national certifying exam.
