Outpatient Services
The Penn Epilepsy Center offers comprehensive evaluation with digital
electroencephalography
(EEG) studies and a variety of neuroimaging studies, including magnetic
resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography
(PET) scans. Treatment with standard antiepileptic medications
and support are available to all patients.
In addition, the PEC is
available to area physicians as a source for:
- second opinions
- diagnosis of complicated spells, which may
be epileptic or non-epileptic events
- consultation on pre-pregnancy planning for
epilepsy patients
- advice on which antiepileptic medications
to use and how to use them
- presurgical evaluation
- support and education
