The Penn Epilepsy Center
The Penn Epilepsy Center
(PEC) provides the highest standard of care to
patients with epilepsy and related problems. The
PEC offers state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques,
medical treatments, surgery and support to patients
with epilepsy.
Members of the PEC are
recognized leaders in research, diagnosis, and
the medical and surgical treatment of epilepsy.
The PEC was one of the first research centers
in the world to study seizure activity and memory
function with non-invasive techniques such as
MRI. The PEC offers more investigational drug
trials than any other center in the Delaware Valley.
And because we recognize the impact this disease
has on the lives of our patients and their loved
ones, we also offer a variety of support services
for people with all types of epilepsy.
The PEC offers comprehensive
evaluation for people who have experienced:
- one or more seizures
- unusual events that a physician believes may
have been seizures
- long-standing seizures that are not adequately
controlled
- unacceptable side effects from epilepsy treatments
