Asthma Care Program
The Asthma Care Program at the University of
Pennsylvania Health System offers a unique treatment
approach. In addition to providing the newest,
most effective medications, the program focuses
on comprehensive patient education and self-management
techniques.
The Asthma Care Program brings together specialists
from Penn's Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine
and Allergy and Immunology divisions, as well
as clinical nurse specialists and primary care
physicians.
The program teaches patients ways to manage
asthma and prevent attacks. Frequent contact
with a personally assigned care manager, healthy
lifestyle advice and counseling, and periodic
reviews by a primary care doctor help patients
achieve the best possible control over their
asthma.
