Thoracic Anesthesiology
The Penn Anesthesiology and Critical Care team
is trained in all subspecialty areas including
cardiothoracic and vascular anesthesia, perioperative
and critical care for patients undergoing thoracic
surgery or major diagnostic procedures. These
specialized physicians are an essential part
of Penn's Thoracic Surgery program, including
surgeries for cancer, esophageal disease, chronic
obstructive lung disease, airway surgery and
lung transplantation.
Multidisciplinary studies
led by Penn have shown the value of a dedicated
cardiothoracic vascular anesthesiologists/intensivists
in the operating room (OR) and intensive care
unit (CTICU). Along with the development of new
and innovative methods we continue to provide
the best care for our patients.
