Allergy and Immunology

The Allergy and Immunology Section at the Penn Lung Center evaluates adults with allergic and immunologic disorders. Our physicians provide comprehensive care for patients suffering from a variety of disorders, including allergic disorders of the eyes, nose, throat and sinuses, allergic skin disorders, disorders of the immune system, as well as asthma and other lung diseases.

Staffed by board-certified allergists and immunologists who are recognized as national leaders in their specialty, the Section provides care across the spectrum of allergic and immunologic disorders, including:

The Section also provides the only postdoctoral training program in the Delaware Valley directed at the care of adult patients with allergic and immunologic diseases. Our physicians are active in clinical or laboratory research, which enables them to apply new developments and treatments to the care of our patients.

Our faculty and fellows see outpatients for diagnosis and treatment of allergies to airborne substances, foods, insects and drugs. During the first visit, we obtain a complete allergy and environmental history. When indicated, a comprehensive panel of skin tests is applied and interpreted. Patients are counseled on avoidance of allergens. Desensitization and immunotherapy (allergy shots) are offered when indicated.

For more information, see the Allergy Care Guide.
