INTERNATIONAL NURSING
Nurses from around the world enjoy the prestige and
the advantages that are found within the University
of Pennsylvania Health System, one of our nation's
premiere academic health care organizations. Whether
they choose to work with the Hospital of the University
of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Hospital, or Penn Presbyterian
Medical Center, they will find the challenges and growth
opportunities that come from working alongside the
finest clinicians in health care.
A number of nurses who work within UPHS are drawn
from our International Nurse Recruitment Program. Attracted
by the benefits of working with us, they find our program
rewarding and very supportive. We make every effort
to ensure that nurses who choose to join our health
system find the transition process to be as smooth
as possible.
Our nurses find a wealth of opportunity in the UPHS
member hospitals, that include:
Each of these entities offers an environment where
international nurses are nurtured as they are acclimated
to their new country... and home.
Support
Because we realize that the transition process can be stressful, UPHS makes every
effort to ensure that your adjustment period is tailored to meet your needs.
Friendly staff are here to orient you and assist you. Throughout your two-year
commitment, you will receive ongoing support from UPHS.
Housing
UPHS has arranged for fully furnished housing
accommodations for the first two months following
your arrival. These accommodations are in Philadelphia,
with easy access to public transportation,
including bus, trains and trolleys.
Nursing Programs Within UPHS
Honing their skills and expanding their knowledge,
the nurses at UPHS assume responsibilities
that help them grow and advance their career.
Our professional practice model is based on
a strong foundation of primary bursing care,
which incorporates accountability and responsibility
for one's professional practice, and fosters
strong partnerships among nurses, physicians,
and members of other disciplines.
Our Clinical Advancement
and Recognition Program (CARP) is
just one of the many programs and resources
that distinguishes our practice environment.
CARP is structured to recognize all clinical
nurses for their contributions to quality patient
care, as well as their clinical knowledge and professional
achievements. This program was designed to
provide advancement for professional nurses who choose
to focus their careers on clinical practice.
Compensation and Benefits
In addition to visa sponsorship, UPHS provides
all employees with one of the most comprehensive
and competitive compensation and benefits packages
available. This includes one of the highest salaries

preceptorship programs, quality education and
clinical support, excellent nurse/patient ratios, flexible
