Pharmacy
Working though a centralized and decentralized RPh structure that is supported by ADMs, Central Pharmacy and Central lV Admixture Laboratory, this is an ideal environment for learning and growth opportunities. Continually evolving, you'll find our leading-edge technology and resources beneficial to provide concise, applicable, and timely responses to requests for drug information from health care providers and patients.
As part of an excellent interdisciplinary team, you will design, recommend, monitor, and evaluate patient and age-specific pharmacotherapy along with providing medication-use education to patients and caregivers. Additionally, you will maintain accurate patient profiles, monitor and help manage drug therapies in order to achieve positive patient outcomes.
Pharmacists with Pennsylvania Hospital find a culture where their input is valued. We are involved in hospital pharmacy at the local and state level, which keeps us informed and updated with all regulatory agencies, standards of care and technology. We also stay current with any changes within the CDC, Emergency Preparedness requests, CMS and J-Code Reimbursements, and we disseminate all current information to our pharmacy staff. At the University of Pennsylvania Health System, we are dedicated to the future of Pharmacy. As part of our commitment to Pharmacy education, we are now offering Scholarships for 6th year Pharmacy students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. In exchange for a three-year full time employment payback commitment, UPHS will provide a full year of paid tuition to our scholarship winners.
As further proof, we have also instituted a Loan Forgiveness Program for newly-graduated Pharmacists. The Program provides eligible employees with the opportunity to receive assistance from us to repay student loans incurred in connection with the individual's pharmacy studies. Full-time benefit eligible employees will be eligible to receive the following as long as they meet all eligibility criteria:
- $1,000 at the completion of year one of employment
- $2,000 at the completion of year two of employment
- $3,000 at the completion of year three of employment
- $4,000 at the completion of year four of employment

Occupational Therapy/ Physical Therapy/ Speech-Language Pathology
Our Rehabilitation Therapists are vital to our wide variety of specialty programs, which includes acute, post acute and outpatient care. Working closely with world-class physicians who serve on the boards of the nation's premiere orthopaedic organizations, they are valued members of a stellar interdisciplinary team.
At Penn Orthopaedics at Pennsylvania Hospital, you will be able to practice state-of-the-art care while experiencing a wide and diverse range across the continuum of care. Laboratory and Pathology Medicine
The Department of Laboratory and Pathology Medicine is a full service clinical and anatomic laboratory with a fully functional Blood Bank, Chemistry, Cytology, Hematology, Histology, Microbiology and Serology laboratory. As experts of laboratory testing, including interpretation, we attract professionals who possess an intellectual curiosity along with embracing a patient centered culture with the goal of improving the quality and patient experience here at Pennsylvania Hospital.
With an Administrative Director, Medical Directors and Technologists, our environment is friendly, professional and supportive with emphasis on learning and advancement. Our four-tiered career ladder is geared toward learning and advancement, with Level l for new employees, Level ll for those employed for one year, and Levels lll and lV requiring Technologists to fulfill certain criteria with a focus on performance improvement projects and teaching.

Radiation Oncology
Our Department of Radiation Oncology is a national leader in clinical care, research, and education. Radiation Oncology at Penn has one of the largest and most respected clinical services in the region.
We offer a wide range of radiation oncology services
including many that combine radiation therapy
with chemotherapy and/or surgery. From conventional
treatments and brachytherapy to IMRT and the
Gamma Knife, our staff takes pride in delivering
the quality care that Pennsylvania Hospital is noted
for. Always at the forefront of medicine and research,
our patient care is backed by a nationally recognized
research and teaching program. The department
conducts basic research to better understand
tumor response to radiation and to increase that response,
enabling us to develop new treatment approaches.

Radiology
The Radiology Department at Pennsylvania Hospital works with cutting-edge technology that includes digital mammography, a new angiography suite, and a new state-of-the-art nuclear medicine department. The Department performs all radiology services with the exception of MRI. Our department offers a respectful culture that recognizes employees for their contributions, where an open door policy encourages staff to share any insights or concerns. The Radiology department employees have an average tenure rate of 10 years and staff turnover is extremely low. Each section has support from a working Team Leader with support from the Operations Manager and the Administrative Director.
We offer a two-tiered Radiology Clinical Ladder designed to recognize employees for their contributions to quality care, as well as their clinical knowledge and professional achievements.
Providing advancement opportunities for Radiology employees who choose to focus on clinical practice, the Clinical Ladder also recognizes and rewards participation in departmental activities, program development, education, and clinical practice. This structures staff positions to delineate increasingly advanced levels of responsibility and skill and encourages ongoing development.
This is a large urban hospital with a community feel to it, and colleagues encourage each other to be their best. Our Radiology positions include Radiographers, Cat Scan Technologists, Ultrasonographers, Interventional Technologists and Nuclear Medicine Technologists.

Respiratory
The Respiratory Care Department provides care for acute, preventive, diagnostic, emergent, and therapeutic modalities to patients in the emergency, intensive care, inpatient and outpatient settings of Pennsylvania Hospital. We maintain a high quality of service and satisfaction for all patients through evidence-based procedures and protocols that meet patient needs effectively and efficiently. Through teamwork and leading-edge technology, we provide safe, effective care to patients within established guidelines.

Consisting of four levels, each level requires employees to obtain points via educational process, joining and leading committees and providing in servicing to other departments. The Respiratory Department provides services 24 hours per day 7 days per week. The Respiratory Care Department provides the following services, according to approved departmental policies: pulmonary assessment and documentation in collaboration with Nursing and physicians, providing life support systems including continuous ventilatory management, blood gas monitoring and respiratory exchange monitoring devices (non-invasive), treatment facilities for the administration of aerosol therapy for inpatients and outpatients, oxygen delivery systems, humidification delivery systems, diagnostic pulmonary function testing and patient education for many of our services. We also provide patient care to areas such as critical care units, Intensive Care Nursery, Pulmonary Rehab Center, general floor care, Pulmonary Functions Laboratory, Sleep Disorders Center, and EEG/EMG departments. Respiratory Therapists are members of the Rapid Response Team and play an important role with patients identified and placed on the High Risk Airway Alert Program.

Cardiology
When patients come to Penn Cardiac Care at Pennsylvania Hospital, they benefit from state-of-the-art treatment from an outstanding multidisciplinary team that includes cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesiologists, medical technologists and specially trained Nurses who are leaders in caring for patients with cardiovascular diseases, ranging from the most common to the most complex.
