a volunteer, you are joining one of the nation's
leading, academic medical centers, servicing
patients from all over the world. HUP has
been awarded several national healthcare quality
awards and was named to the US News and World
Report's healthcare honor roll – a
distinction given to the nation' top ten
hospitals among 1800 surveyed.
The tradition of volunteer service at HUP dates
back to the founding of our hospital in 1874. Volunteers
play an important role in patient satisfaction
and add an extra dimension of personal service
and care to our patients. Your generous
gift of time and talent is invaluable to us.

Adult Volunteer Program
The Adult Volunteer Program offers community
members who are 18 years of age and older opportunities
to interact with patients at various levels of
care, provide clerical or administrative support,
or to assist hospital team members in other ways
that reinforce the hospital's mission of
delivering extraordinary patient care.
Teen Volunteer Program
If you are 14 years old or older and in high
school, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
offers many opportunities for career exposure
in a healthcare profession. Many high schools
require students to commit to community service,
or provide students with career enhancement opportunities
in service learning programs. Teenagers
who wish to complete volunteer service or would
like to spend time learning more about healthcare
are welcome to join the HUP Volunteer Team.
College and Premed Volunteer Programs
Many opportunities exist at the Hospital of
the University of Pennsylvania for college students
who are searching for volunteer positions that
will allow exposure to careers in healthcare. Premedical,
Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy,
Healthcare Administration, Business Administration
and other college students are invited to HUP for
service/learning experiences that enhance career
goals.
