Neil asks:
My son is 20 years old and has seizures for the past ten years. His seizures
can occur once every four to six weeks
or twice a week. He has been on so
many medications. He currently is on
Depakote and Trileptal. He had a Vegus
nerve implanted in him about four years
ago with no positive results. He has
been on many variations of the Keto
diet. For a while, there seemed to
be hope but this past year, the seizures
started to occur more frequently.
For
the past six months, he has had involuntary
arm movements and recently they have
become so bad that he uses two hands
to use a fork to pick up his food.
He recently had a 24 hour EEG, an
MRI, and is scheduled for a 24 hour
EKG. What kind
of cures and treatment do you think
he needs but should he be seeing
an adult doctor for his condition?
My son needs help. I need a cure
for him so he can live a somewhat
normal life.

B. Crino, MD, PhD responds:
My response would be to arrange a visit with
one of our physicians. There may be additional
medications he has not tried, a possible surgical
attempt, or a therapeutic drug trial of a new
medication.
