The Penn Rodebaugh Diabetes Center and Health
Management Resources (HMR)
have partnered to offer
a weight loss program that provides:
- Intensive lifestyle education
- Personalized attention
- Long-term weight maintenance, not just a “quick
fix”
If you have diabetes, are you unable to lose
weight, and are motivated to lose 30-40 pounds
over the next few months, then this program is
for you!
Our motto is: “Successful weight management
is a matter of learning and practicing new skills,
not will power.” The program teaches
you new skills for lowering calories, how to
increase activity, and encourages you to eat
more fruits and vegetables — all leading to better
health!
Program Components
The Penn Rodebaugh Weight Management Program has
two distinct features:
- Healthy Solutions Diet – This
1,200 - 1,400 calorie diet promotes moderate
weight loss (30-40 pounds on average) and weight
maintenance without medical supervision. HMR
entrees, shakes, and lots of fruit and vegetables
make this diet 100% nutritionally complete.
- Weekly Classes – Our licensed
professional nutritionists will teach you the “how-to's” of
losing weight without feeling hungry, as well
as simple ways to add in exercise, fruits and
vegetables everyday. Record keeping keeps you “on-track.” A
close working relationship with your nutritionist
provides the personal accountability and follow-up
you need to be successful!
Requirements
If you say
"yes" to
the following requirements, you could
be on your way to losing weight and improving
your diabetes control! The requirements include:
- Meeting once weekly for one hour
of group support, coaching and behavior modification
training
- Committing to eating only HMR brand hot
cereal, shakes, entrees, puddings, soup, and
nutrition bars, along with fruits and vegetables
and 64 ounces of calorie-free beverages daily,
until your desired weight is reached
- Committing to exercising daily
- Recording food intake and exercise to remain
accountable and “on track”

Cost and Fees
Group classes cost $20 week. In addition, the
Three Week Diet Kit with Meal Replacements (shakes,
entrees and materials) costs $298-300 (that’s
$99 per week or $14 per day!)
Note: This program is a self-pay, fee-for-service
only program. We DO NOT accept insurance coverage.
If your insurer reimburses for weight loss, submit
your claims directly to your insurer.
