The Complex Aortic Surgery Program at Penn Cardiac
Care at Penn Presbyterian is dedicated to the timely
recognition, treatment and longterm management
of people with severe aortic disease, from diagnostic
evaluation through rehabilitation.
Our team of cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons,
neurologists, anesthesiologists and radiologists
provide management and expertise for all types
of acute and chronic aortic conditions, including:
- acute Type A and Type B aortic dissection
- ascending aortic and aortic arch aneurysm
- aortic root reconstruction, including homograft
Ross procedures, as well as thoracic and thoracoabdominal
aortic reconstruction
Candidates for care include patients whom:
- Have just had surgery
- Are not ready for surgery
- Will not be candidates for surgery horacic
aortic aneurysm stent graft trials
Early detection of severe aortic disease can
help reduce the risk of rupture, dissection extension,
and neurological problems that can accompany severe
aortic damage.
