Preventive Medicine and Lipid
Management
The Center for Cardiovascular Health and Lipid
Disorders at Pennsylvania Hospital combines the
efforts of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses
and dietitians. The Center is designed to help
those with pre-existing coronary artery disease
and vascular disease, and offers in-depth preventative
care to those patients with lipid disorders/abnormal
cholesterol levels, who are at risk for developing
problems. Our multidisciplinary team evaluates
and manages patients' cholesterol levels, helping
reduce one's risk of developing coronary and vascular
diseases.
Our multidisciplinary team is specialized in
working with patients to build individualized
treatment plans based on current National Cholesterol
Education Program NCEP) guidelines using state-of-the-art
diagnostic and treatment options. Our services
include:
- detailed analysis of cholesterol, triglycerides,
LDL & HDL, and other levels
- in-depth personal nutrition counseling
- evaluation of cardiac and lifestyle risk factors
- one-on-one counseling for diet and therapeutic
lifestyle changes
- review of current medications and possible
need for lipid lowering medication(s)
- individually designed comprehensive programs
to fit patient's lifestyle
- review and consideration of other potential
therapies (ie over-the-counter supplements)
We will forward all of your information and any
recommendations to the patient's primary care
physician.
