Complex Aortic Surgery Program
The Complex Aortic Surgery Program, made up of
a multidisciplinary team including cardiothoracic
surgeons, cardiologists, neurologists, anesthesiologists
and radiologists, provides management and expertise
for all types of acute and chronic aortic conditions
including:
- acute Type A and Type B aortic dissection
- ascending aortic and aortic arch aneurysm
- aortic root reconstruction
- thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm managed jointly
with the Vascular Surgery Division
Procedures
Penn Cardiac Care at Pennsylvania Hospital provides
a number of services related to aortic disease
including treatment of:
- chronic and acute aortic dissections
- thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms
- congenital aortic and great vessel abnormalities
We see all emergency cases including ruptured
aneurysms, dissections, and traumatic transections.
Our surgeons also consult on second-opinion cases
and perform re-operative procedures routinely.
Aortic Disease Management Program
The Aortic Disease Management Program is a
one-stop-shop that provides long-term care for
people suffering from aortic disease. Candidates
for care include:
- patients who have just had surgery
- those who are not ready for surgery
- patients who will not be candidates for surgery
Patient care includes disease diagnosis and assessment,
medical or surgical management, and rehabilitation.
