Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) Surgery Program

If you are currently suffering from severe coronary artery disease - a fatty build-up on the inner walls of the arteries that nourish the heart - coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG) may be an option for you. CABG restores normal blood flow to the heart by removing an extra vein from your leg or chest wall to create a bypass of the blocked section that will allow blood to flow freely around the blockage.

Penn Cardiac Care at Pennsylvania Hospital's CABG Program is made up of a multidisciplinary team including cardiothoracic surgeons, anesthesiologists, and specially trained nurses and technicians. This expert team performs routine and complex coronary artery bypass graft surgery. This same care, expertise and knowledge is applied to other types of surgery including heart valve repair and replacement, adult congenital heart defects, and complex aortic surgery.
