Shore Memorial Hospital and University of Pennsylvania
Health System announce an educational and clinical
affiliation agreement
Through this latest affiliation, cardiologists
from Penn Cardiac Care at Penn Presbyterian Medical
Center will provide diagnostic catheterization
services on-site in Shore Memorial’s
CardioVascular Institute in Somers Point, NJ. Harvey
Waxman, MD, chief
of cardiology at Penn Presbyterian, will serve as medical
director for the Institute’s low-risk cardiac
catheterization laboratory.
Shore
Memorial physicians and the Institute’s
cardiovascular team will collaborate with Penn cardiologists,
providing care of the heart and circulatory system for
patients in the shore communities and throughout the
region. "Shore Memorial Hospital has invested in
the latest technology for cardiovascular care. We look
forward to working with the outstanding team of cardiovascular
physicians at Shore Memorial, using this opportunity
to provide cutting edge cardiac care to patients in
the region," said Waxman.
Shore Memorial President and CEO Albert L. Gutierrez
describes the University of Pennsylvania Health System
as one of the country's premier health care institutions
and Penn Cardiac Care as the best choice to coordinate
cardiovascular care with Shore Memorial cardiologists,
vascular surgeons, and interventional radiologists.
“Our CardioVascular Institute represents a recent development in medicine,
integrating a highly trained team of cardiovascular specialists, advanced technology,
clinical research, and professional and patient education programs,” states
Gutierrez. “We could think of no better partner than Penn Cardiac Care
to collaborate with our cardiovascular team."
Gutierrez notes that the affiliation
strengthens both organizations. "Our physicians and their patients will
benefit from on-site diagnostic coronary procedures and Penn will draw from
the value of our Institute's environment where cardiovascular care is concentrated
in a single location.”
