Routine Tests Help Detect Heart Disease
American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Campaign
Recipe: Cherry Pear Crisp

University of Pennsylvania Health System continues to support AHA's Go Red for Women Campaign

We are proud to support the American Heart Association’s Philadelphia Go Red for Women Campaign. We sponsored the Philadelphia Go Red for Women luncheon which encourages female leaders in the region to be more aware of the nation’s #1 killer of women: cardiovascular disease

Kelly Ann Spratt, DO, a cardiologist at Presbyterian-University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, co-chaired the event and Mariell L. Jessup, MD, medical director of the Heart Failure and Transplantation Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, addressed the crowd of 200 plus, thanking the patients who shared their first-hand encounters with heart disease and urging everyone to do the following:

  • eat right
  • exercise
  • relieve stress
  • be aware of your family health history
  • speak to your doctor about your concerns.

All proceeds from the program support research in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and related illnesses particularly among women.

Penn Cardiac Care doctors are committed to educating patients about prevention and the risks of heart disease. For more information, visit Women's Heart Health/Preventive Cardiology web site.
