Penn Cardiac Care at Pocono Medical Center
In 2007, the ESSA Heart and Vascular Institute
at Pocono Medical Center (PMC) joined the growing
list of distinguished medical institutions affiliated
with Penn Cardiac Care. Founded in 1915 as General
Hospital in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, PMC
is today a 233-bed acute care facility offering
a range of inpatient and outpatient services.
The
center serves over 282,000 patients annually,
and is the primary provider for the Pocono Mountain
region's Monroe, Pike and Northampton counties.
The Center has a staff of 1,600 that includes
more than 150 physicians and surgeons in 35 specialties.
The
ESSA Heart and Vascular Institute is housed in
a new 100,000 square foot tower featuring state
of the art patient facilities including all private
rooms. The Institute
will continue to provide services such as:
- Diagnostic cardiac catheterization
- Interventional cardiology and emergency procedures
- Open heart surgical procedures
- Implantable cardiac devices
The ESSA Heart and Vascular Institute also features
digital catheterization labs and cardiothoracic
operating rooms, fully equipped with the latest
technology to provide our experienced staff with
an optimal working environment. 64-slice CT Angiography
and Cardiac Electrophysiology services are in
development for implementation in 2007-2008.
