Penn Cardiac Care's Cardiothoracic
Surgery Program at Bayhealth Medical Center
To better serve the people on Delmarva, Bayhealth
Medical Center has affiliated with the University
of Pennsylvania Health System, enabling Penn Cardiac
Care surgeons to help establish a comprehensive
cardiac surgery program at Bayhealth's Kent General
Hospital.
The program, which opened in June 2004, provides
patients on-site surgical services close to home.
John Mannion, MD, a cardiothoracic surgeon, and
a staff of approximately 40 nurses and support
personnel, perform artery bypass grafts and heart
valve repairs and replacements.
The hospital also offers diagnostic cardiac catheterization,
cardiopulmonary rehabilitation and cardiac care
for patients recovering from heart attacks.
