Arrhythmia Management
Penn Cardiac Care physicians have more experience
in treating and managing arrhythmias (irregular
heart rhythms) than any other electrophysiology
program in the Delaware Valley. Each year, we
insert more than 200 pacemakers and place more
than 160 implantable defibrillators (ICDs). In
addition, more than 1,000 electrophysiology procedures
and 250 catheter ablation procedures are performed
annually. Our specialists evaluate and treat all
types of heart rhythm disorders, including:
- persistent palpitations or heart racing
- syncope
- atrial flutter and fibrillation
- ventricular
tachycardia
- ventricular fibrillation
- sudden cardiac arrest
- heart block and other bradyarrhythmias
- pacemakers and implantable defibrillators
The following are a list of services available:
- Diagnostic electrophysiology studies
- ICD and Pacemaker Implants
- Ablations - using the latest approved as well
as investigational equipment for ventricular/supraventricular
tachycardia and atrial fibrillation
- Tilt table testing
- Pacemaker and device clinic
- Transtelephonic arrhythmia monitoring
- Telephone pacemaker follow-up
- Cardioversions
Our electrophysiologists have access to the latest
state-of-the-art implantable devices and therapies
to effectively treat ventricular tachycardia and
bradyarrhythmias, including magnetic electroanatomic
mapping and intracardiac echocardiography.
We also have available the latest multi-lead implantable
device technology for coupling heart failure and arrhythmia treatment.
