Advanced Clinical Excellence
The researchers and physicians of the Penn Lung Center are pioneering technological advances that improve the way lung disease is diagnosed and treated. This quality of service extends through the treatment of diseases like chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or emphysema and asthma; to the most complex conditions and procedures such as lung cancer and lung transplantation.

Penn researchers are breaking ground in clinical research on bronchoscopic lung reduction, an emerging alternative to surgery. The Penn Lung Center also leads international research efforts in treating mesothelioma, a pulmonary cancer caused by exposure to asbestos, which is now occurring more frequently.
