Preoperative Appointments

Patients have one final visit to the hospital approximately one to two weeks before surgery. At this time, the patient meets with the surgical staff and his or her medical history and physical examination will be reviewed. This is to ensure that the patient’s health history and medications are up to date.

The patient will meet with the bariatric clinical dietitian specialist to review the post-operative gastric bypass diet and to make sure all of his or her questions are answered. Patients will also undergo preadmission testing at this visit, including lab work, an EKG, and a chest x-ray, if needed.

Need an appointment? Request one online 24 hours/day, 7 days/week or call 800-789-PENN (7366) to speak to a referral counselor.
